Social Media In 2010?

The impact of one-way communications such as magazine ads and commercials aren't the same today as they were in the past. Today more and more companies are practicing two-way communications by engaging their consumers through "social media" by delivering information before they ask for it but also listening to the consumer. The marketing world has changed drastically over the past few years and for a business to survive they need to reevaluate their marketing plans to include social media.

Consumers are becoming more technologically advanced and are easier annoyed with a company's direct marketing strategies. When you company pushes its product it also pushes the average consumer away. To succeed today you must build trust and friendly relationships with your consumers.

Your consumer relationships can be developed by participating in free or low-cost social media applications such as blogs, blogging (video blogging) and podcastings, and social networking platforms like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

Social Media and Networking sites allow a company to strategically place their conversations and releases engaging consumers with immediate feedback conversations. This significantly increases your company's brand awareness and user engagement. By utilizing these strategically placed conversations your company will grow loyal supporters and build the trust required in today's market.

These free social media sites can also be used to monitor your company's internet reputation, reveal what competitors are using as marketing, develop a consumer research program and even develop partnerships with other companies.

Flaky consumers are being weeded out and only prospective consumers are being reached with targeted messages that cost a fraction of the old expensive advertising campaigns. Since social media marketing and public relations efforts result in immediate feedback and measurable results, marketing campaigns can be quickly assessed to see if they are working or not.

A flashy website is not the extent of online marketing. Having a nice website is a great start but a company needs professional guidance on implement an internet marketing strategy. For example a website must be constantly updated with new information and ultimately engaging their prospective audience. A strategy like this will result in improved SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and bring your site to the top of searches. Most web designers will agree that your content should be fresh and new while measuring your visitors reactions. By implementing an internet marketing campaign to compliment your website your company will be more competitive in today's market and more viable.

A company needs to thoroughly research their market prior to developing and implementing a social media/internet marketing campaign. There are dozens of social media platforms available to support your social media efforts and more developed daily. The best way to achieve success is to find an expert in the field. Find someone who can evaluate your current marketing efforts, develop a social media strategy for you and implement it so you can concentrate on running your business. Your selection of a social marketing company is imperative as it is your company's reputation. Ask if they outsource their work. I personally don't want an underpaid person handling my real-time marketing strategies and company image.
